Colorado: Day Three

Today was a fantastic day, although it started out on an uncertain note. We awoke to sirens at 3:00 AM alerting us that the entire neighborhood was on lockdown. There were two men who had committed a robbery and shot a police officer during their getaway. The armed men were apparently on the loose in our area and the police asked everyone to stay locked in their homes. This stayed the same until about 10:30 AM, when they let us know that we could leave but would not be able to get back into the area. There were helicopters flying overhead and police officers with rifles all over the place. Fortunately, we were able to leave for the afternoon and then get back into the neighborhood without incident. As of yet, the fugitives are still on the loose. However, they are supposedly no longer in this area. What drama!

We went to Chili's for lunch and then to the Outlet Mall in Sedalia. It was a perfect 70 degree day with sunshine and a cool breeze. Laura, Kim, Taylor and I all went happily from store to store just laughing and having fun. Gloria stayed with my aunt and cousins for the afternoon, and apparently had a fabulous time. My favorite purchase of the day was a yellow t-shirt for Gloria with a unicorn.

Tomorrow I am hoping to go out hiking and see more of the beautiful Colorado outdoors. Of course, pictures never seem to do justice to the real thing. Monday we are thinking of going to the local zoo. So, all in all, it is turning out to be a wonderful trip.
