Give me a break

Just a quick note to say that I had a fairly nice day with my mother even though the odds were not stacked in our favor. She has a ton of papers to grade for her students and I am feeling beaten down with some type of horrible stomach flu. However, we both managed to keep positive attitutes and it made the day so much better. She took Gloria for over an hour so I could pick up my room and clean the area where I got sick last night, and I stopped at Portillo's and got her dinner on my way back from picking up my Grandma's mail. Let me tell you that life is a lot more pleasant when my mom is feeling ok and in a good mood.

I was supposed to go to my brother Dan's Halloween party tonight but decided against it since I have no one to watch Gloria and I am feeling very sick. I don't really like to bring Gloria places where everyone is partying, and I wasn't feeling very well myself and worried about getting everyone else sick with a stomach flu virus. Then, they would never invite me to another party. Still, I miss being able to hang out with friends and just have carefree fun. I think that is over forever now that Kevin is gone. Everywhere I go I feel like half of me is missing. Even if no one else notices it, I feel the absence of my man in the room.

I got a lovely visit from Michelle Van Acker on Friday afternoon. She is still on for our 5K race next week. I am really excited about being able to complete the race. I am just going to take my time at my own pace and get to the finish line safely. That is the plan.
